Jan-Willem van der Velden, Dr. med.
Jan-Willem
van der Velden is physician and a registered specialist in
pharmaceutical medicine. He was member of the Executive Management Team and responsible for the delivery of drug safety services at the International Institute for the Safety of Medicines.
He joined ii4sm from PharmaNet, where he served as Sr. Vice President Global Safety and Pharmacovigilance. In these roles he did run safety programs for many pharmaceutical companies in a large variety of therapeutic and diagnostic indications.
Prior to joining PharmaNet he was Director of the Pharmacoepidemiology & Health Economics Department at Yamanouchi. While there, Jan-Willem van der Velden was in charge of drug safety, risk and crisis management, pharmacoepidemiology and health outcomes of products in all phases of development and marketing.
Prior to joining Yamanouchi, Dr. van der Velden was Director of Corporate Pharmacoepidemiology at Solvay Human Health Division.
Jan-Willem received his medical degree from the University of Leiden, the Netherlands and he has clinical experience in psychiatry and oncology. He is a member of several professional organizations including the International Society for Pharmacoepidemiology (Past President), the International Society of Pharmacovigilance (Coordinator of the Swiss ISoP Chapter) and the Drug Information Association.
Furthermore he holds an academic position at the University of Brussels.
