Elliot Brown trained and worked for several years as a family physician in
the UK, then spent 10 years in senior positions in various companies in
pharmacovigilance and in medical services. He was a senior medical assessor
for 5 years at the UK MHRA and was UK representative on the EMEA’s CHMP
Pharmacovigilance Working Party. He was EU and EFPIA representative on the
ICH M1 (MedDRA) Expert Working Group, has been a member of the WHO Uppsala
Monitoring Centre signal review panel and was a founding member of the CIOMS
working group on Standardised MedDRA Queries.
Until recently, Elliot was an Honorary Senior Lecturer at the University of
London’s School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine for 9 years. He is a
member of the Editorial Boards of the journals Drug Safety,
Pharmacovigilance Review and Pharmaceutical Medicine and has published
extensively on pharmacovigilance and associated topics as well as chairing
and speaking at numerous international conferences.
For the last 10 years, Elliot has been Managing Director of Elliot Brown
Consulting, an international firm of consultants specialising in
pharmacovigilance, risk management, regulatory compliance and training. In
2008 he also established PrimeVigilance Ltd., a full pharmacovigilance
